Carpe Diem Haiku – Prince Genji’s farewell

A beautiful painting with a beautiful haiku… check this out!

Also, sorry for the absence these days, college has been driving me into a corner in terms of time, so posts have been delayed. Also, I’m switching to only mondays and fridays now. I’ll be doing reblog wednesdays now. :)

Björn Rudbergs writings

The task at Carpe Diem is to distil a haiku out of this poem by Prince Genji

The evening sky itself
becomes something to cherish
when I gaze at it,
seeing in one of the clouds
the smoke from her funeral pyre

to clouds that linger
mingling with the pyre’s ash
I bid her farewell
